Invitation to Participate in EU “Reality Checks Contribute to Shaping Digital Legislation

We would like to inform you of an important initiative from the European Commission aimed at simplifying digital legislation and reducing administrative burdens for Small and Medium- sized Enterprises (SMEs). At the heart of the initiative lies the ‘Digital Omnibus’ proposal, which introduces targeted updates to existing legislation, aiming to streamline regulatory requirements and significantly lower compliance costs for small and medium-sized enterprises.

As part of this effort, the Commission is launching a series of “Reality Checks”, interactive, focus group-style sessions designed to gather direct feedback from SMEs across the EU on how digital rules are applied in practice. These sessions will explore real-world challenges and solutions related to compliance with key digital legislation, including:

  • Cybersecurity (e.g., NIS2 Directive)
  • Data Governance Act and other data-related rules
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI Act)
  • ePrivacy
  • Digital identity frameworks

Your insights will help shape the upcoming Digital Package on Simplification, expected later this year.

How to Participate:

We encourage SMEs to register their interest in joining these sessions by completing the form available HERE.

Key Details:

  • Dates: 9–19 September 2025
