Creative Europe Programme – MEDIA Strand Call reference: CREA-MEDIA-2027-DEVVGIM
Under the Creative Europe 2027 Work Programme, the “Video games and immersive content development” call is open for proposals, supporting European companies in developing video games and interactive immersive experiences with international commercial potential.
Objectives and supported activities
The call aims to strengthen the development capacity of European video game production companies, extended reality (XR) studios and audiovisual production companies. It also seeks to improve their competitiveness in European and international markets by supporting the retention of intellectual property by European developers.
Funding supports the development, at the pre-production stage, of concepts and prototypes for interactive narrative storytelling, featuring original content and/or quality gameplay. Works should be intended for production and global commercial exploitation through PCs, consoles, mobile devices and other technologies.
Projects should demonstrate originality, innovation, creative value, strong commercial ambition and substantial potential to reach audiences across borders. Applications must also include appropriate strategies addressing environmental sustainability, gender balance, inclusion, diversity and representativeness.
Eligible applicants and consortium composition
Eligible applicants are public or private legal entities that are European video game production companies, XR studios or audiovisual production companies and meet the call’s eligibility requirements.
Applicants must:
- Be established in an eligible country: an EU Member State, including overseas countries and territories, or an eligible EEA country or country associated with Creative
- Be established in a country participating fully in the MEDIA strand and be owned, directly or indirectly, wholly or by a majority shareholding, by nationals of such Specific rules apply to publicly listed companies.
- In the case of the coordinator, demonstrate recent experience in producing internationally distributed Applications may be submitted by a single applicant, with affiliated entities where needed, or by a consortium of at least two applicants. Affiliated entities do not count towards this minimum of two applicants.
