Learn how to comply with the new European legislation and protect your business!
The European Union is enforcing strict regulations on the trade of seven basic products linked to deforestation and forest degradation namely cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soy, and wood, as well as other derivative products like chocolate, furniture, paper etc. Operators and traders involved in importing, exporting, and trading these products must comply with the new rules to avoid legal and financial risks.
What You Need to Know:
✅ Zero Deforestation: Your products should not come from areas that have been deforested.
✅ Legality: Production must comply with the laws of the country of origin (land ownership, labor rights, etc.).
✅ Due Diligence Statement: It includes all the information and evidence that confirms that the operator/trader has exercised due diligence and has established that there is zero or negligible risk of non-compliance of the products concerned with the Regulation.
For this reason, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), in collaboration with the Department of Forests (Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment), is organizing an informative seminar to help businesses understand and prepare for their new obligations.
