Cascade Funding is a mechanism whereby projects funded under European programmes launch their own open calls, providing financial support to third parties that were not beneficiaries of the original project. The mechanism is particularly aimed at facilitating the participation of SMEs, start-ups and other innovation stakeholders in European initiatives. The European Commission refers to Cascade Funding as Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) and uses it to broaden access to European funding for smaller organisations.
Cascade Funding calls can represent a particularly attractive opportunity for companies seeking to develop, test, demonstrate or bring innovative products, services and technologies to market.
